The WIPO Visitors Programme offers persons a unique opportunity to deepen your understanding of global IP governance, policies and operations. In this way, a visit to WIPO provides firsthand exposure to the organization’s role in shaping international IP frameworks. Kindly note that visits to WIPO do not incur a charge.
To ensure a safe, respectful and enriching experience for all, we kindly ask visitors to WIPO to read and follow the guidelines below:
Visitors to WIPO are accommodated in the WIPO Knowledge Centre unless otherwise indicated.
Visitor names must be submitted no less than one week in advance of the visit.
Persons arriving at WIPO by car can be dropped-off/ picked-up from the WIPO Access Center, but no parking is allowed there.
Paid parking is available in the public underground parking garage “Parking des Nations” located on Place des Nations, right next to WIPO. See https://www.geneve-parking.ch/fr
On the day of the visit, all visitors must have valid photo ID (e.g., passport, student ID card) for entry.
Upon arrival, visitors must pass through a security screening process. Please allow extra time for this procedure.
Large bags, backpacks, or any items that could pose a security risk are not permitted inside the premises.
Visitors will be provided with a visitor badge, which must be worn and visible at all times while on the premises; visitors to WIPO are subject to badge control at all entry points.
Access is restricted to designated visitor areas. Entering staff-only areas without permission is prohibited.
In case of emergencies, please follow the instructions of WIPO security personnel and evacuate to designated safe zones as requested.
The WIPO presentation is designed for a tertiary-level audience and student attendees should be enrolled in an academic institution.
WIPO is fully accessible for individuals with mobility challenges. Ramps, elevators and accessible restrooms are available throughout the building.
Visitors requiring additional assistance are encouraged to share accommodation needs ahead of time.
WIPO is an international organization; therefore, visitors are expected to dress in business casual or smart casual attire.
Please maintain a polite and respectful demeanor towards staff and fellow visitors.
Noise levels should be kept to a minimum, especially in the lobby, the library or public meeting areas.
Visitors are welcome to take photographs of the WIPO building, public meeting areas and exhibits for personal use.
Photographing meeting delegates, staff at work or taking pictures in restricted areas is strictly forbidden.
The use of drones is not allowed at WIPO.
The WKC is a specialized resource and is not a public library.
Please adhere to the following rules when accessing the Library:
External access is restricted to activities directly related to WIPO.
Library materials cannot be borrowed or taken outside the Library premises. All materials are equipped with security tags to prevent removal.
Computers are provided exclusively for intellectual property research.
The printer should only be used for Library catalog searches and material directly related to intellectual property.
Photocopying/scanning is available for making limited copies, respecting copyright laws and only for Library resources.
Visitors are required to respect the Library premises, its resources and its personnel at all times.
A guest Wi-Fi code is available for use upon request.
Access to WIPO premises is subject to approval and security protocols.
Kindly note that no vehicle (car, motorbike or bicycle) will be authorized within the premises.
Smoking is prohibited inside the WIPO building and only allowed in designated outdoor areas.
Food and drinks are not allowed in restricted areas, such as the library or conference rooms.
The presentations are tailored for tertiary-level students and intellectual property (IP) professionals.
